Tai Sabaki "Falling To Move" Ninjutsu Training Drill

Tai Sabaki Advanced Drill: "Falling to Move" (also San Shin)

This video supplements the video blackbelt course "Basics of Ninja Training" available by instant download or DVD at http://www.ninja-learning-network.com

These Ninjutsu training drills demonstrate the most efficient way of moving - "falling" into your next step. Sensei Roemke shows how you can practice finding your balance tipping points to move efficiently in a way that does not telegraph your intended motions to an opponent. For example, instead of first putting your weight on your right foot in order to move your left foot, you should load up your weight onto the left foot and then simply "fall" to the left, lifting the left foot to and catching yourself falling as you lift that foot off the ground (and then landing in a controlled way onto your left foot.) There are many drills for practicing this kind of basic movement, just a few are shown here. Paul helps demonstrate a san shin excercise using this method.

Ninjutsu Training Drill:

Tai Sabaki - Deflecting Attacks with Minimum Body Movement

This Tai Sabaki ("body evasion") drill demonstrates a way to practice using minimal movement to deflect an attack that has made contact with your body. Sensei Roemke mentions Rob Renner -- you can train at Renner's Bujinkan dojo in Japan which is called "Zeropoint Bujinkan Dojo" http://www.zeropointbujinkan.com. This video was filmed at Santa Cruz Bujinkan Dojo in California USA with Shihan Roemke http://www.scbudo.com
